The first book’s illustrator was commissioned by the author to draw the character of Burt and his friend Tara along with scenes from the story.
This incorporated the look and feel of the home the author shared with her family.
The author’s daughter who inspired the stories had a fantastic talent for drawing and painting. As the stories developed, she drew the existing characters and many new characters along with the ever changing scenery and adventures from the stories.
It became a collaborative work between mother and daughter over the years.
This talented illustrator, Sadie Smith, is also a singer, song writer who wrote and composed a song about Burt and his adventures featured in our website. She was born in London and brought up in the same house which features in most of Burt The Bathroom Monster books. Sadie enjoys bringing the stories her mother wrote to life through her illustrations.
